SuzanneI had the pleasure of meeting Suzanne Stephens last summer at a local support group, where we both shared tools for those dealing with the challenges of lupus.  I was enchanted by her gentle nature, enthusiasm, and breadth of knowledge that she has gained through study as well as her personal experience living (and thriving) with Multiple Sclerosis.

I was thrilled to hear about Suzanne’s class specifically designed for those dealing with chronic health conditions, and couldn’t wait to pass this along.  This class (aptly named “Yoga Empowered for Chronic Conditions”) combines the health benefits of yoga with simple tools that anyone can use at home (not to mention, Suzanne’s vibrant presence, which is healing in itself!).

As Suzanne describes, “Many of us live with chronic illness, chronic stress and/or other  chronic health challenges.  Come refill your well.  Practice gentle asana  (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation.  Each class is designed to replenish and refresh body, mind and spirit.”

When: Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 12:00–1:15pm
Where: Red Square Yoga (Queen Anne– Seattle)
Who: Those living with chronic health challenges/chronic stress, as well as caregivers.
Cost: Suggested donation of $12.00

Note: Pre-Registration is preferred for this class. Please contact Suzanne to register or for any questions or concerns.

Suzanne is very generous with information, and one can learn a tremendous amount simply by visiting her website alone.  Here is an example of Suzanne’s techniques, which can start “inspiring” you right now…

Zola YogaDid you ever wonder if there are other options when caring for your pet?  Did you ever imagine that the same medicine that has been treating a wide variety of conditions for thousands of years, could also help our four-legged (and even winged) friends?

Meet Dr. Darla Rewers, DVM (if you haven’t already), our local expert in holistic care for animals.  Darla is a licensed veterinarian in Washington (as well as Florida and California) and has been practicing acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine on both domestic and exotic species for over 8 years.   She is the owner of Ancient Arts Veterinary Acupuncture Services, located in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle.

DarlaIn her daily practice, Darla combines conventional veterinary medicine with ancient traditions (and a creative flair).  After hours, she also teaches valuable techniques including  Qi Gong and art meditation to improve the health and well-being of both pets and their people.

From the yearly “check up” to the most difficult life transitions, Darla’s sensitive manner and confident skill are superb.   But don’t just listen to me, check out this live veterinary acupuncture demonstration with Darla and her patient, Mugsy, here: http://soundintegratedhealth.com/sound-mind-and-body.

The look on this pup’s face says it all.

Blueprint for the Soul…

September 3, 2010

Book Cover PicSome of you may know that I recently attended a workshop/retreat with the absolutely amazing teacher and practitioner, Jean Haner (author of “The Wisdom of Your Face” and “The Wisdom of Your Child’s Face”).  I gained so much insight during those four days, that it honestly changed my life.

I am happy to share that Jean will be returning to Seattle where she will be offering demonstrations based on her her life’s work of Chinese face reading.

In Jean’s own words, “The ancient Chinese believed that your face reflects your true inner spirit, the blueprint of your original design. The wisdom written there explains why you think, feel, and behave as you do, and answers two of the most important questions you need to ask yourself in life: Who am I and what is my calling?

hanerpicBy discovering your unique inner design, you can become your authentic self, find the life path that brings you joy, relationships that nurture you, and most of all, gain true clarity and compassion for yourself and everyone you encounter.”

Whether you have children, or you are a grown child, it’s never too late to begin living in line with your true nature.  Please join Jean at one or more of the following events to learn simple tools that can make profound changes in your life.  While these three workshops are absolutely FREE, the information Jean will be sharing  is priceless.
